What are Non-Destructive Tests

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) refers to a set of tests, examinations, and surveys used to assess and monitor the health status of a building, large industrial structures, or the quality of industrial products.
They are called non-destructive because they utilize inspection methods that do not alter or modify the integrity of the material under examination or the functionality of the object being tested.

Purpose of Non-Destructive Tests

It enables the evaluation of the integrity of the object being examined and is closely related to safety and risk management. Non-destructive tests allow for continuous monitoring, enabling timely intervention in case of need and mitigating the risk associated with detected anomalies. Continuous monitoring of risk factors is a decisive factor in the lifecycle of a building, a large industrial facility, or the production process of an industrial product. It allows for the detection of alterations, immediate intervention before safety, integrity, and quality are compromised, and before the damage requires a much more costly investment.

Becoming a Non-Destructive Testing Technician

To work in the field of Non-Destructive Testing in the civil and industrial sectors, personnel must have a non-destructive testing certification and undergo a qualification process.
For each non-destructive testing method, personnel must possess the relevant certification as required by the applicable standards.
