HM-G41 Handheld Thermal Imager

Building Diagnostics & Industrial Inspection · 480×360 IR Resolution · NETD <35 mK · Laser Autofocus · GPS · IP54 · Wi-Fi

The HIKMICRO G41 is the professional handheld thermal imager for technical experts who cannot afford to miss an anomaly — on a building site or in an industrial plant. The 480×360 pixel VOx detector (172,800 pixels) with NETD < 35 mK detects thermal bridges, moisture infiltration, plaster detachment and insulation defects with the same precision it applies to electrical faults and mechanical failures. The 5-mode laser autofocus system locks focus in approximately 2 seconds. Integrated GPS, compass and laser distance meter deliver georeferenced data ready for technical reports.

Measurement Range and Accuracy

From −20°C to 650°C: From Building Diagnostics to High-Temperature Industrial Processes

The G41 covers two measurement ranges, each optimised for a specific operational context:

  • Standard range: −20°C to +150°C — accuracy ±2°C (−20 to 0°C), ±1°C (0 to 100°C), ±1% (100 to 150°C) The ideal range for building diagnostics: thermal bridges, moisture infiltration, insulation verification, low-temperature systems, energy certification. The ±1°C accuracy in the 0–100°C band meets the requirements of EN ISO 6781 and EN 13187 for building thermography.

  • Extended range: 0°C to +650°C — accuracy ±2°C (0 to 100°C), ±2% (100 to 650°C) The range for heavy industrial inspection: electrical diagnostics on MV/LV switchboards, transformers, motors, bearings, furnaces and high-temperature processes.

A single instrument covers the full range of a technical professional’s work: from the energy audit of a residential building to the thermal commissioning of an industrial plant.

The built-in analysis tools include: centre spot, hot spot, cold spot, Delta T, up to 10 user-defined spots, 1 line, 5 rectangles and 5 circles — all with real-time temperature readout and configurable high/low/interval alarms to automatically highlight anomalous zones.

Reporting and Software for Technical Documentation

From Thermography to Professional Technical Report

The G41 is designed to integrate into the workflows of technical professionals who must deliver certifiable documentation:

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) for immediate wireless image transfer to a site laptop
  • Radiometric UVC video streaming over USB Type-C and Wi-Fi — compatible with third-party analysis software
  • HDMI output for real-time presentation to clients on site
  • Bluetooth 4.2 for auxiliary device connectivity

The free HIKMICRO Analyzer software (Windows) is the central tool for professional post-processing: isotherms, temperature profiles, before/after comparison, anomalous area calculation and generation of professional PDF reports with headers, side-by-side visible/thermal images, data tables and technical notes — ready for attachment to expert reports, energy diagnostics and building renovation documents. The HIKMICRO Viewer mobile app enables direct image transfer and preview from any smartphone.

One Instrument for Two Professions: Building and Industry

The HIKMICRO G41 is engineered for technical professionals who demand the highest performance from handheld thermography: structural engineers, building surveyors, energy auditors, certified thermographers and industrial maintenance engineers. The 480×360 pixel vanadium oxide (VOx) detector with a 17 μm pitch provides uniform spectral response across the 7.5–14 μm band and thermal sensitivity below 35 mK (measured at 25°C, F#=1.0).

Proprietary SuperIR technology applies a super-resolution algorithm to captured images, boosting the displayed resolution to 960×720 pixels without compromising radiometric data. Every pixel in every acquired JPEG stores its absolute temperature: images are fully radiometric, available for post-processing analysis and directly attachable to technical survey reports and energy performance certificates.

Thermography as a Building Diagnostics Tool

In building pathology diagnostics, thermal image quality determines the difference between an accurate and a misleading technical finding. The G41 enables clear identification of:

  • Thermal bridges on walls, slabs, windows and structural nodes
  • Water infiltration and rising damp, even in the absence of visible moisture
  • Plaster and cladding detachments identified through thermal inertia differences
  • Insulation deficiencies in roofs, ventilated facades and external insulation systems
  • Window and door frame heat losses from degraded seals and frames
  • Anomalies in radiant floor and ceiling heating systems

The standard range −20 to 150°C with ±1°C accuracy between 0 and 100°C is calibrated precisely for the temperature differentials typical of residential and civil construction (generally 5–30°C), where precision matters more than range.

Intelligent Autofocus, Always Sharp

The G41’s focusing system supports five distinct modes:

  • Laser-Assisted AF — ideal for surfaces with low thermal contrast, such as homogeneous plaster and walls
  • Continuous AF — maintains automatic focus as you move along a facade or ceiling
  • Single AF — precise on-demand focus acquisition
  • Manual Focus — full control for extreme distances or complex environments
  • Touch AF — tap the screen to focus on the exact location of the anomaly

A focus speed of approximately 2 seconds and a minimum focus distance of 0.3 m cover both close-up inspections of structural nodes and long-range surveys of facades and rooftops.

Measurement, Geolocation and Field Documentation

The built-in laser distance meter (50 m indoor / 10 m outdoor, Class II, 635 nm) measures distance and surface area directly from the instrument — essential for calculating the size of an anomalous zone to report without additional equipment.

Every acquisition is automatically enriched with GPS coordinates and compass direction, creating a geotagged image archive ready for import into technical reports, energy performance certificates (EPC) and building renovation documentation. Voice annotations (up to 60 seconds), text notes (up to 200 characters) and QR code scanning enable thorough on-site documentation, significantly reducing back-office work.

Ruggedness and Battery Life

Built for the Building Site and the Industrial Plant

The work of a technical professional takes place in demanding conditions: loft spaces, basements, open construction sites, industrial sheds. The G41 is certified to withstand them all:

  • IP54 (IEC 60529): full dust and water splash protection — essential on construction sites
  • 2 m drop test (IEC 60068-2-31): certified drop resistance
  • Vibration resistance: 2g (IEC 60068-2-6)
  • Shock resistance: 25g (IEC 60068-2-27)
  • Operating range: −20°C to +50°C — from winter facade inspections to overheated industrial mezzanines

The hot-swappable Li-Ion battery system allows battery replacement without interrupting work. The standard kit includes 3 batteries (approximately 4 hours each) and a dual-slot charging base: over 12 hours of continuous operation for the most demanding survey days.
