Novatest Official Sponsor at “Landscape 6”: a dive into the future of landscape archaeology.

From April 14-16, the University of Siena hosted the international conference “Landscape 6: A Synthesis of Diachronic Elements.” Novatest was proud to participate as Official Sponsor in this three-day event dedicated to the study of marginal landscapes with a super interdisciplinary approach that brought together archaeology, geophysics and the latest technologies.

Archaeological research often focuses on areas that are “easier” to study, such as plains and large sites. This sometimes leaves in the shade areas such as forests, lagoons, maritime environments, mountains or deserts, which by their nature are more complex to investigate. The same thing happens in areas that are difficult to reach or where historical-archaeological heritage is at risk due to conflict.

During the event archaeologists, geophysicists and experts in new technologies discussed how to integrate their approaches to transform these “emptyscapes” and marginal landscapes into true “revealed landscapes.”

Novatest, which has always been attentive to innovation and support of scientific research, confirmed its commitment in this field, with a special focus on the potential of georadar and magnetometry applied to landscape archaeology. We are convinced that these technologies can make a difference in revealing the hidden secrets of these “forgotten” territories.

It was really exciting to see how the synergy between different disciplines and the use of state-of-the-art tools can open new frontiers in understanding our past, and we are happy to have contributed to this important moment of exchange and growth for the scientific community.
