Metodo GEORADAR (ARCHAEOLOGY)
Novatest presents a training course in the use of ground-penetrating radar in preventive archaeology, in collaboration with the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Provinces of Siena, Grosseto and Arezzo, the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany, the University for Foreigners of Siena with the Centre for Archaeology of Pre-Roman Diversity and Mobility (CADMO) and the Municipality of Chiusi (SI).
The course consists of four days of training and advanced specialisation dedicated to georadar surveying techniques, with a particular focus on indirect prospecting methods in the field of archaeology. The specialist course is aimed at all operators in the sector, with the aim of transferring technical, scientific and practical knowledge and skills in the field of georadar and preventive archaeology.
The training course will provide participants with advanced technical training in indirect archaeological survey practices, together with up-to-date knowledge of the current regulatory framework for the protection of cultural heritage, with specific regard to the obligations associated with preventive archaeology and the relationships between professionals, clients and the authorities responsible for protection.
The practical activities will be carried out in the field at real archaeological and historical sites in the town of Chiusi (SI) with the acquisition of ground-penetrating radar surveys aimed at implementing the techniques presented during the theoretical part of the course.
Participation in the course will result in the award of a training certificate endorsed by all the bodies involved in the training project and is a prerequisite for applying for second-level certification in the georadar (GR) method, subject to completion of a general training course on non-destructive methods and materials science.
The certification of personnel involved in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) provides objective evidence of the correct management of human resources and the adequate implementation of production processes, contributing to the recognition of company quality standards and serving as objective technical credentials for staff skills. The course involves participation in events and shared spaces, intensive sharing of professional experiences and knowledge, with the aim of providing an immersive experience in one of the nerve centres of our country’s archaeological and cultural heritage.
