Civil Engineering / GPR PinPointR 3D
ImpulseRadar PinPointR 3D brings professional 3D GPR acquisition into the simple and familiar workflow of a conventional GPR cart.
Compact, lightweight and designed for one-person operation, it combines an 8-channel, 450 MHz architecture with the tablet-driven ViewPoint 2 workflow, making the transition from conventional 2D GPR surveying to professional 3D subsurface mapping easier.
At just 25.4 kg, PinPointR 3D has been designed to simplify transportation, deployment, acquisition and interpretation without compromising the data quality expected from professional GPR surveys.
Three-dimensional GPR surveys provide a considerably more complete representation of the subsurface than isolated radar profiles.
Traditionally, however, professional 3D GPR systems have often been associated with heavy platforms, more complex logistics, specialised workflows and steeper learning curves.
PinPointR 3D was developed to remove those barriers.
ImpulseRadar has created a multi-channel platform combining portability, operational simplicity and professional 3D data acquisition, making 3D GPR easier to integrate into everyday professional surveying.
The system is designed not only for dedicated radar specialists, but also for survey professionals already working with conventional GPR systems who want to move into three-dimensional subsurface mapping without adopting an unnecessarily large or complex platform.
At just 25.4 kg, PinPointR 3D has been designed to be transported, deployed and operated by one person.
When folded for transportation, the system measures only 870 × 540 × 370 mm, making it suitable for transportation in a conventional vehicle and reducing the need for dedicated survey vans or trailers.
Once on site, its quick and intuitive setup allows the operator to start surveying within minutes.
One of the key strengths of PinPointR 3D is the simplicity of its field workflow.
The operator handles the platform much like a conventional GPR cart, while its 8-channel architecture simultaneously captures multiple radar profiles as the system moves across the survey area.
The system operates at 450 MHz and provides a 59 cm swath coverage width, measured centre-to-centre between channels 1 and 8.
This allows surveyors to move from isolated 2D radar profiles towards a more continuous three-dimensional representation of the subsurface while maintaining a familiar and intuitive acquisition workflow.
Every stage of the workflow has been developed to simplify field operations:
Transport → Deploy → 3D Survey → Process → Interpret
The compact platform simplifies transportation.
Fast deployment reduces setup time.
The multi-channel architecture collects 3D data while the operator moves across the survey area.
The software environment completes the workflow by taking the data from field acquisition through visualisation and interpretation.
PinPointR 3D uses ViewPoint 2, the new generation of ImpulseRadar acquisition software.
The survey workflow is managed directly from the tablet, from survey preparation and data capture through to in-field visualisation.
The objective is to reduce operational complexity and make professional 3D surveying easier to adopt, particularly for operators already familiar with conventional GPR systems.
Less time learning. More time surveying.
The workflow continues after field acquisition.
PinPointR 3D datasets can be processed, visualised and interpreted using Condor, ImpulseRadar’s professional processing software, or through Geolitix Plus / Ultra.
PinPointR 3D → ViewPoint 2 → Condor / Geolitix → Results
The processing and visualisation environments allow collected field data to be transformed into three-dimensional subsurface representations suitable for target detection, interpretation and professional reporting.
PinPointR 3D therefore fits seamlessly into the ImpulseRadar software ecosystem, supporting the operator from acquisition through to final interpretation.
PinPointR 3D is suitable for surveys requiring continuous, high-density 3D subsurface information while maintaining a compact platform that can be transported and operated by a single person.
