SUBvysor-37 GPR Systems for GroundPenetrating Radar Surveys in theDemocratic Republic of the Congo

Last month, we travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to deliver a practical training session on two SUBvysor-37 GPR systems supplied to Regideso.

Regideso, a Congolese public utility company, selected this technology as part of the country’s ongoing digitalisation process and with the aim of promoting a more sustainable management of its resources.

The Congo is often described as the “African Amazon”, as it is home to the world’s second-largest tropical rainforest, an ecosystem of fundamental importance for a wide variety of animal and plant species. At the same time, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has abundant water resources, thanks to the Congo River and its extensive underground water reserves. However, this wealth is not matched by an adequate level of water security. SUBvysor-37 GPR for Utility Mapping

The GPR systems were purchased to map underground utilities and accurately detect pipes, water mains and electrical cables in a practical and efficient manner. They will also be used to identify water leaks and unauthorised connections, which are particularly common in the area.

The systems will allow Regideso’s technicians to independently carry out groundpenetrating radar surveys, improving the efficiency and management of the local water supply network.

The collaboration between Novatest and Regideso began approximately one year earlier, when the SUBvysor-37 GPR systems were first delivered, followed by an initial remote training session.

On this occasion, the training was mainly practical and included both classroom activities and field demonstrations, allowing participants to explore the numerous functions and capabilities of the SUBvysor-37 systems.

Both the technicians and Regideso’s management expressed great satisfaction with the outcome of the training and, above all, with the effectiveness demonstrated by our ground-penetrating radar systems.

The next objective is to further strengthen the partnership between the two companies by supplying additional GPR systems capable of supporting Regideso’s operational teams across the country.

Advantages of the SUBvysor-37 GPR System

The SUBvysor GPR is one of the most effective solutions for carrying out groundpenetrating radar surveys quickly and cost effectively, thanks to the GPR Logger and Mapper 3D acquisition and analysis software

The system enables survey data to be collected in the field and subsequently processed on a computer. The software also allows users to modify processing parameters and settings at any stage while preserving the original raw data.

This technology is available with a wide range of antennas designed to meet different professional requirements and adapt to the specific characteristics of the ground being investigated.

The system is particularly effective for deep investigations, detailed subsurface analysis and the detection of both metallic and non-metallic objects of different sizes.
